Goals and objectives

• Alleviate the suffering, sorrow and trauma of children living in child headed households by providing their basic needs
• Organize a parenting scheme so as to give CHH an authority figure to oversee them
• Facilitate education for the children by providing school fees, materials and advocacy.
• Involve the existing resources of Solace Ministries to the care of the CHH in their communities.
• Facilitate access to adequate medical care.

The 1994 genocide and war in Rwanda left behind thousands of widows and orphans. These were left virtually with no means of support. The most common issue is the extreme poverty standing as their daily experience. They lost homes, parents, spouses, siblings and children. Solace Ministries started in the end of 1995 in order to comfort this group of survivors.

Besides the numerous material needs, there were a lot of emotional, spiritual and psychological problems that confronted the survivors.

Soon, it was realized that among these needy people, there is a particular group that needed a special care.
